From unknown to less-known greeting card publishers. 

I love pop-up greeting cards, the smell of fresh-cut paper, and the folding up assembly of paper parts, revealing beautiful images. I do not intend to repeat some obvious recommendations of big companies dominating the retail landscape.  You can find them easily yourself.

Here you can find only cards close to my heart.

 Designed as freestanding paper art pop-ups to be displayed for prolonged periods. Their sizes are adjusted for that, and they fit 6×9” envelopes.
     

Why do I not list the vast majority of available pop-up cards?

Despite their colorful variety, there are a few reasons lingering deep inside me. Since I do Art and paper product design, they hard for me to ignore.

  1. Oversimplification. Simplicity is what I myself strive for, but not certain crudeness. Most of the available stock is hard to distinguish from one another. They all look like the hands of the very same designer. Simply BORING.
  2. Hallmark, American Greetings, and all others deploy only trellis-type cards, where all parts are joined with vertical and only vertical connections. Like this one:  In my eyes? BORING
  3. A Good, effective pop-up card, generating emotions, is designed to be displayed for a longer time than the few seconds when you open the cover and view inside. The covers prevent it. The idea is to have it and your name on display for a longer time.
  4. Also, Big, huge sizes overwhelm the recipient and create a Storage Problem.                                                                           Jack
